Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Compression happens in your browser on your device. PixelLite does not send your selected image to a server.
Can I reduce file size without losing quality?
Sometimes. Lossless optimization can make some files smaller without changing image data, but it usually cannot shrink every photo by a large amount. This tool uses browser image encoding, so reducing the size substantially can reduce some detail.
Why didn’t my image reach the target size?
The target is approximate. The format, dimensions and complexity of an image affect its final size. PixelLite keeps the dimensions unchanged and prioritizes a usable result over an unrealistic target.
What is the maximum image size?
You can select images up to 100 MB. Compression happens on your device, so very large or high-resolution images may need more memory than some phones or browsers have available.

Images you select
Image compression runs locally in your web browser. The image you select is processed on your device and is not uploaded to our server by the compression tool. We do not store image files.
Information collected by the website
The site code currently does not include an account system, analytics service, contact form submission service or advertising scripts. This website is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may process technical information, including IP addresses and request logs, to deliver and secure the site. See the GitHub Privacy Statement for details.
